Sophie Lougher is the founder and Managing Director of Zeus Family Law, a boutique Cardiff-based practice recognised for delivering expert advice with clarity, empathy, and strength. Sophie began her career in family law from the outset and has since built a reputation for being both a tenacious litigator and a highly capable negotiator, with significant experience acting in both privately funded and legally aided cases.

With over 15 years of exclusive family law experience, Sophie is known for her strategic focus, straight-talking advice, and unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients.

Sophie has acted in complex divorce and separation matters, high-value financial proceedings, and sensitive children disputes, including relocation, parental alienation, and urgent safeguarding cases. She frequently undertakes her own advocacy to ensure consistency and continuity throughout a case, particularly in financial hearings, fact-finding hearings, and contested children applications.

Kathryn Fanstone

Solicitor

Kathryn qualified as a Solicitor in December 2024 and brings a wealth of experience in family law to her role.

She began her career in family law in 2016 as a Paralegal and continued to develop her expertise while completing her law degree at Cardiff University, from which she graduated in 2021. Kathryn joined the firm in 2022 and has since been recognised for her dedication to the field, receiving the prestigious Trish Whiting Scholarship in 2023.

Kathryn provides support and advice at every stage of your case, offering tailored solutions to meet your needs. She is committed to delivering the highest standard of client care and ensuring that clients feel supported throughout what can often be challenging times.

A member of Resolution, Kathryn is dedicated to promoting constructive and non-confrontational approaches to family law matters, regardless of their complexity. Her empathetic and professional approach ensures that your case is handled with care, respect, and efficiency.

Yasmin Perrins

Paralegal

Yasmin is a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual, joining Zeus Family Law as a Paralegal after graduating with First Class Honours from Cardiff University.

With a passion for family law, Yasmin gained invaluable experience during an eight-month pro-bono placement with Support Through Court at Cardiff Civil and Family Justice Centre, where she provided vital assistance to unrepresented clients navigating complex proceedings.

Yasmin combines strong legal knowledge with empathy and support, to help clients achieve the best outcomes in challenging situations. Eager to develop, Yasmin is dedicated to expanding her existing expertise in a practical capacity and making a meaningful contribution to this field of law.

Karen Fanstone

Senior Lawyer

Specialist in Divorce & Separation, Financial Settlements (including high-net-worth and complex cases), Child Arrangements, Pre- and Post-Nuptial Agreements, Cohabitation Disputes, Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Karen is a Chartered Legal Executive (Fellow) and brings over 25 years of experience as a dedicated Family Law Practitioner to Zeus Family Law.

She specialises in a wide range of family law matters, with particular expertise in complex financial settlements, high-net-worth divorces, and sensitive child arrangement proceedings.

Karen is also well-regarded for her knowledge of pre- and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation disputes, and private client work, including Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. She advises clients in these areas with clarity, precision, and a reputation for trusted, strategic guidance.

Karen’s practice reflects the core values and ethos of Zeus Family Law: strategic, clear, and client-focused. She is known for providing straightforward, realistic advice and working closely with clients to secure positive, cost-effective, and timely outcomes.

Denise Cox

Office Manager & Administrator

Denise is the heart of Zeus Family Law. As our Office Manager and Administrator, she plays a central role in the smooth running of the firm, ensuring that both clients and team members are fully supported from first contact to final resolution.

Often the first point of contact, Denise is the friendly and reassuring face of the firm. She is responsible for managing our day-to-day operations, coordinating the team’s workflow, and ensuring that everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly, allowing our legal team to focus on delivering outstanding client care.

With a calm, highly organised, and people-focused approach, Denise ensures that each client feels welcomed, informed, and looked after from the moment they get in touch. She is trusted by clients and colleagues alike for her efficiency, discretion, and unwavering professionalism.

Our Fixed-Fee Services

Below is a selection of our fixed fee services. Zeus Family Law offers an initial fixed-fee consultation at £150.00 plus VAT. After this, we provide transparent information on our fee earners’ costs and work with you to achieve solutions that minimise both expense and stress.
